Blade mCP X Main Blades Detaching in Flight

As the new E-flite Blade mCP X makes its way into stores hobby shops and eager hands all over the world the first complaint about the product has started to show up around the forums and online communities.

Some new owners are finding that as they are acquainting themselves with their new purchase they are surprised to find that their main blades are coming lose and flying off. One report has been from an owner who was struck in the face with one of the problem blades.

The reported problem can happen for two reasons. In some cases the screws that screw into each end of the spindle/feathering shaft are tending to come loose. It's unclear whether or not there was any kind of adhesive added to the connection from the factory; however, it is something to keep in mind before the heli is flown.

The other problem is related to the main blade grip bearings failing, allowing the blade retaining screw to pull through the blade grip bearings taking the inner bearing race with it.

The blades on the mCP X spin faster and are heavier than those used on the mSR, so if you're planning on buying one, make sure that you inspect the head assembly carefully before taking to the air.
