SportX

Description

The Compass Model SportX remote control helicopter by Compass Model LTD of Hong Kong is a 50-size nitro powered model that is designed for and marketed to hobbyists wanting a good performing, large heli, at a low price.  In order to achieve the lower end of the price spectrum the SportX is built on a plastic frame set rather than carbon fiber and uses plastic in the head, tail, and other areas where possible to keep costs down.

The arrangement is a typical pod-and-boom arrangement with a belt driven tail.  The head block is machined aluminum and uses some aluminum parts in the flybar carrier and swash plate.  Other than that, the head has a full complement of plastic parts.

The main components of the heli are preassembled including the frame set, the main gear section, the rotor head, and tail rotor assembly.

The heli is designed to accommodate a 50-57 size nitro engine and to be fitted with 600-620mm main blades giving it a 1,360mm (53.5 inch) rotor diameter.  Take off weight including engine and full fuel is 3,550 grams.
