One of the heaviest components in a model helicopter is the power plant. If the power plant is too far below the rotor disc, there will be a discernable pendulum effect. Pitch and roll performance could suffer. By raising the power plant in the frameset, the Synergy N9 has a very high center of mass. By keeping this center of mass closer to the rotor disc the pendulum effect is reduced and the helicopter is markedly more stable. Synergy N9 cyclic response is crisp and predictable.
The Synergy N9 features a composite engine mount. This innovative use of material reduces airframe vibrations substantially. This equates to a smooth running helicopter with longer airframe and electronics life.
The landing gear on the Synergy N9 are manufactured from an incredibly durable and lightweight composite material. Rigorously tested, this landing gear will withstand incredible loads. The landing gear struts are bolted directly to the frameset, which further reduces the parts count, keeps weight down, and simplifies installation and removal. The landing gear struts on the Synergy N9 feature an internal skid capturing system. This proven system negates the need for gear replacement if the strut bottoms should ever wear through.
The large machined main gear and standard 15 tooth pinion gear comprise the rotor head drive system on the Synergy N9. The larger gears allow for an extremely smooth gear-train. Standard gearing is 8.27 to 1. Alternative popular gearing options will be available.
The engine cooling system on the Synergy N9 can handle the high demands of your chosen power plant. The high efficiency cooling fan is combined with a specially designed fan shroud to meet this need. The unmodified cooling shroud will accommodate most popular cylinder heads – including: OS, YS, and the Viperhead. The N9 cooling fan mounts directly to the crankshaft via a top and bottom self-aligning split collet system. This system does not require the use of a woodruff key.
At the heart of the main gear is the durable sprag bearing. Based on past experience, this type of auto-hub bearing is the most dependable and reliable. By supporting the durable 12mm diameter main shaft above and below the sprag with radial bearings, a smooth running and trouble free system is virtually guaranteed.
The Synergy N9 features a rugged tail boom / tail drive assembly. The 22mm diameter aluminum tail boom is lightweight, strong, and perhaps most importantly – easy to replace (both physically AND financially.) The 10mm diameter hollow aluminum drive tube features dual ball bearing support. If the drive tube should require replacement, the bearings and drive ends are re-usable via an innovative positive lock collar system. This further reduces costs in the event of an ‘incident.’
The Synergy N9 features a ‘forward facing’ engine. This orientation allows the fuel tank to be closer to the main shaft reference line – providing a consistently balanced helicopter throughout the entire flight. OMI Viperhead owners will not be required to obtain or use special tools to service their glow plugs
The durable 12mm diameter main shaft is supported by two composite bearing blocks. The innovative use of these materials further absorbs vibration and leads to longer and more reliable airframe and electronics life.
The Synergy N9 tail rotor system is ready for hard 3D. Featuring an extremely heavy duty tail rotor hub and a 6mm output shaft, the entire system was designed to comfortably handle high horsepower engines and modern gyros. The machined self lubricating composite tail rotor gears will stand up to the most aggressive 3D flying. The durable semi-enclosed tail rotor gearbox protects the tail rotor gears while at the same time allowing easy inspection. The large diameter tail rotor hub on the N9 provides a large 292mm (11.5 inch) diameter tail rotor disc. Combined with a 4.67 to 1 tail rotor gear ratio, the N9 has outstanding tail rotor authority.
The 120 eCCPM control system was designed to be as simplistic as possible. The servos are mounted in a composite tray – once again attenuating airframe vibration and extending servo life. Servo installation is straightforward, utilizing standard servo wheels. The control rods are 2.5mm throughout the entire helicopter – featuring 5.5mm diameter balls. CNC billet aluminum bell cranks transfer servo motion to the swashplate.
The Synergy N9 rotor head features composite blade grips and a CNC billet aluminum head block. The composite grips extend bearing life, while working with the innovative two-stage dampening to give the N9 incredible flight characteristics. The flybar ratio has three adjustments to suit different flying styles. The CNC billet aluminum washout base includes a brass bushing for longer low tolerance life. The blade grips utilize a 5mm rotor blade bolt for added durability and safety. The N9 can swing a maximum blade length of 720mm, while the grips will accept up to a 14mm blade root.
Synergy Helicopters is proud to lead the industry into tomorrow with a stock 5mm flybar. The N9 features a positive flybar control system constructed of CNC aluminum with steel connecting balls. The safety of a thicker flybar combined with this control system contribute to the N9’s exceptional tracking, and also enhance cyclic response. High end 5mm flybar paddles will be included in the kit.
The 22oz fuel tank is among the largest available it’s class. Internally mounted within the frameset the tank is secure for the hardest 3D. Surrounded by an innovative rubber frame barrier, pressurized fuel delivery systems will not chafe the fuel tank upon expansion. This large fuel tank allows 10 minute plus flight times without a header tank.
The Synergy N9 will feature a 6mm hex adapter as standard equipment. The 6mm start shaft can be adapted to other start systems via aftermarket components.
At the heart of the Synergy N9’s drive train is a steel centrifugal clutch. Specially designed to work with the lower RPM of .90 size engines, this proven clutch design bolts directly to the cooling fan for ease of installation. Engine installation and removal is straight forward and simple. The start shaft is an integral part of the clutch assembly.
The clutch bell is pre-drilled to accept governor sensor magnets. This innovative feature reduces clutter on the engine mounts, and also moves the sensor away from it’s traditional close proximity to the engine. This will lead to longer sensor life and easier access to engine for installation and removal.
The radio tray was designed with today’s modern radio equipment in mind. Ample space is provided on the radio tray for modern batteries, switches, amplifiers, governors, regulators, receivers, and wiring. No creative modifications are required to equip a Synergy N9.
The Synergy N9 features a 3mm thick vertical 3D fin. This heavy duty fin will adequately protect the tail rotor system during ‘rough’ landings.
The Synergy N9 features a durable one piece fiberglass canopy. Streamlined and narrow, this canopy is not only attractive, but also aerodynamically clean. The canopy is gel-coated and ready for your own custom paint job. If you do not wish to paint your canopy, Arizona Heli can supply Synergy N9 owners with beautiful custom painted canopies.
